Reviews win you new clients, but most happy clients never write one because nobody asked at the right moment. Brightdesk makes asking easy. When a booking is completed, you send a review link. The client taps a star rating, writes a few lines and submits, with no sign-up needed. You get notified, and the review shows up in your dashboard, on your public profile, and as a shareable card for Instagram.
Plan note: Review requests are a Pro feature, included in your 28-day free trial.
In this tutorial
Step 1: Mark the booking as Completed
Review requests are only available for completed bookings. After the event, open the booking, tap Edit Booking, and set Status to Completed.
Step 2: Create the review link
In the booking's Overview → Actions, tap Request Review (Send a review link to [client]). Brightdesk creates a short link for that client.
The link expires in 3 days and can only be used once, so reviews come from real clients and can't be submitted twice. That's also a good reason to send it while the event is still fresh.
Step 3: Send it
Tap Share Review Request to send it on WhatsApp or any app, or tap the copy button and paste it into a chat.
Messages you can copy:
Same day or next morning:
Hi Kavya! It was such a joy getting you ready for your big day 💕 If you have a minute, I'd love a quick review. It really helps my small business: [link]
Photographer, with a sneak peek:
Hi Rohan & Aditi! Here are a few sneak peeks from Saturday 📸 If you enjoyed working with us, would you leave a quick review? It takes 30 seconds: [link]
More scripts and timing tips: how to ask for client reviews.
Step 4: What your client sees
The client opens the link on their phone and sees:
- How was your experience? They tap 1–5 stars
- Share your thoughts: a short review (up to 500 characters)
- Submit Review
Then they see a Thank You! screen. They don't need an account or an app.
Step 5: Get notified and view reviews
You'll get a push notification when a review comes in. All reviews are in Studio → Reviews (or Reviews in the desktop sidebar). There you can:
- Search reviews…
- Filter by rating
- Switch between List view and Grid view
Your dashboard also shows review stats, including your average rating.
Step 6: Share a review as a card
Tap Share on any review to create a Client Spotlight card with the stars, quote, event and date, marked Verified by Brightdesk. Post it to your Instagram story, WhatsApp status or Facebook page.
Step 7: Show reviews on your public profile
In Settings → Public Profile, switch on Show Testimonials. Reviews that include written text then appear on your profile page (up to 10), where new clients are already deciding whether to book you. See setting up your portfolio website.
Frequently asked questions
The client says the link doesn't work. It has probably expired (after 3 days) or already been used. Open the booking and tap Request Review again to get a new link.
Can clients edit their review later? No. Each link can be used once. If they want to change something, send a new request.
Can I hide a single review? Not individually right now. You can turn Show Testimonials off to hide all reviews from your profile. If you get an unhappy review, talk to the client personally, fix the issue, and keep collecting reviews. A few 4-star reviews among many 5-star ones actually look more trustworthy.
